Here are a few of the features.

Packed with activities – On every page is a speaking activity, exercise or word puzzle, so students are continually engaging and interacting with new language.

Flexible – Instructions and explanations are short and simple. This helps make the activities as flexible as possible. Teachers can add, subtract, adapt and expand to suit the particular needs of each class.

Stand-alone book – There is no teacher’s manual, no workbook, no CD and no need for photocopying.

Conversation with conservation - There is a minimum of clutter and a minimum of waste, in the hope that we might use a little less of the earth’s resources.

Just a few words about the compact nature of these books.

1. Except for the cover these are monochrome books. Books in color require more refined paper to adequately hold the inks, plus the paper often undergoes greater bleaching and is frequently coated. So black and white printing is ‘greener’.

2. With no additional workbook and manual (or anything) there is also much less waste of paper. In addition there are no appendices (which sometimes constitute up to a third of a book) with word-lists, grammar guides, extra tests etc, and even the answer key is online, again resulting in less waste.

3. There is also no need for any photocopying. This provides obvious savings in time, paper and energy.

4. These books are bound by staples, and not glued. Most paperback books use a great deal of very strong adhesive to bind the pages together. It is more economical to use two small staples which have been made from recycled metal. Moreover a stapled book can be opened easily and fully, allowing students to comfortably view the entire page, and to write their notes in the margins (without breaking their spine).
